Use Start/Finish as an intermediate gate

In our most recent race, we had a 2-lap race using the start/finish also as an intermediate gate. Using the course editor, I want to be able to use the Start/Finish marks 3 times: at the top, in the middle, and at the end. But it will only let me add at the top and bottom. Do I need to create an additional gate using the start/finish marks to do this?
