    It looks like the boat separation is calculated along the rhumb line. Consequently when the course is not directly upwind, the separation changes dramatically from tack to tack.  It would seem to me to be much more useful to calculate it based on the wind direction rather than the rhumb line.

    John,

    Previously, we had it along the wind. It did work good in some cases but not others. We’ve changed it hoping it will work better. Now we realize that we need both variants. Hope to implement this soon.

    Looks like it’s done!!  THANKYOU!! The separation information is much more useful now.  I’m guessing that VMG has also changed but it’s harder to tell.
