The raceQs’ app works for any type of race, in any type of boat. The app knows which boats are sailing in the same geographic area, at the same time. There is no advanced setup required to see other boats in your replay, everyone who is recording will automatically show up. After the race, divide boats into fleets by entering the division starting times into the virtual course setup feature of the 3D replay.
Making a fleet replay is easy. The more boats that record the race, the more fun the replay will be to watch. So, get your fleet excited about raceQs by sharing your replays on Facebook, e-mail, or by replaying them at the club for everyone. How does the app know the wind?
The wind is predicted using meteorological data, and then refined based on your tacking patterns.
How does the app break the boats into divisions?
Boats are organized into divisions based on the time that they crossed the starting line. You can enter starting times into the race replay, on the course setup tab.
Does it work for offshore or distance races?
Yes, the app will record a track for as long as you want, but make sure to disable the auto-shutoff feature. You will need a power source for your phone battery.
Do I need to permission to setup the virtual course?
The course setup is optional, and easy. Anyone who has access to the replay, can setup the virtual course. The course only has to be set up once, and it will show up in everyone’s race replay.
Will raceQs’ work for my race?
It will record and replay One Design or Handicapped fleets competing in buoy races and offshore regattas. It will also work for landsailing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding.
