In this podcast, Jacon breaks down a chaotic rounding at a leeward gate.  The conclusion:  in your attempt to make a wide-and-tight rounding, or to get your spinnaker down, never leave the zone.   The rounding start with two boats, 43 and 46, both rounding the right gate mark.  43 gets to the zone first, on the port tack, and 46 gets there second, on starboard, forcing 43 to jibe.  Ater they round, a more complex situation emerges, with boat 38 leaving the zone and thus sacrificing the mark-room to which she was entitled.  26, who entered behind 38, stays in the zone and gains mark-room, allowing her to pass 38.
